  • 300g plain flour (or gluten-free)
  • 200g dairy-free block butter
  • 640g vegan sweetened condensed milk
  • 250g dairy-free dark chocolate
  • Flaked sea salt (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare your baking dish by greasing it or lining with parchment paper.
  2. For the shortbread layer, mix flour, sugar, and cold butter until crumbly; add vanilla and press into the dish. Bake at 180°C (350°F) for 10-12 minutes.
  3. For the caramel layer, melt butter in a saucepan, then stir in sweetened condensed milk and brown sugar; cook until thickened. Pour over baked shortbread.
  4. Chill for 30 minutes before adding melted chocolate on top; sprinkle with sea salt if desired.
  5. Allow to set completely in the fridge before cutting into squares.
